What is your role and how long have you worked for Chatters?
I’m a retail manager/store manager, previously a stylist. I have been at Chatters Summit in Kamloops for 8 years.
Has there been anyone in your career at chatters or elsewhere who was like a mentor to you?
One of my first bosses after I came out of hair school. I worked for her in Kelowna and I’m still in contact with her today. She inspired me to have a lot of passion for this industry. Also, Cristina Groves from Chatters head office has been with me since I was a stylist and service manager. She has seen me through the transition from that role to this one as store manager.
If you could style anyone’s hair who would you choose?
Kate Middleton. She is a fashion icon always gorgeous, always beautiful.
Tell us about one of your favorite products and why it’s your favorite?
I love Sebastian Shaper hairspray. There’s a real story about when I was 15 and I got my first job. I would save my money to buy a can of hairspray. To this day I still use it. I have tried other brands but I always end up going back to it.
If you weren’t doing this job what else would you be doing?
It would be something with people, like a nurse or a teacher or child care.
If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go and why?
I would go to Europe. I have been to Italy but I would like to see Paris and London.
If you could give the younger you advise what would you tell her?
Trust your gut and do what makes you happy.
Do you have a personal philosophy people know you by?
Everything happens for a reason. That even applies to how I ended up working here. It was a cool twist of fate that brought me here 8 years ago, and I’m so glad.
Is there anything on your bucket list?
It would be to travel more. I have been fortunate to travel a fair amount. I also want to continue on my career path, moving forward.
What do you like to do on a day off?
On a day off I like to not wear makeup and wear a messy bun and be outside in my garden, yard, walking my dog and playing with my son.
Tell us about some of your hidden talents!
I have a pretty good ability to stay calm in a tense or elevated situation. When dealing with people I am usually able to observe the situation before reacting. This helps in customer service for sure!
