What is your role in the salon?

I’m at Chatters Salon Heartland in Mississauga, Ontario. I am a beauty consultant, and I have worked here for just over a year.

How did you get into the beauty industry?

I started off with wanting to be a make-up artist. I went to school for this opportunity and right away I found work at Chatters. It was meant to be! I worked as a make-up artist for a year.

How did you find out about Chatters?

I was trying to find a place to start, and I think that Chatters really was the best starting option for me. I researched possible job opportunities through influencers and looking online.
These recommendations all pointed me in the direction of Chatters!

How is Chatters different than other Salons?

Everyone feels like family, I’ve never felt uncomfortable. It feels like my second home, and I don’t have to pretend to be different. The guests are pretty established and feel comfortable here as well, they have been coming here for a long time as this location is 11 years old.

What is your favourite thing about your job?

I like how easy going everyone is. Like I said, I don’t have to pretend to be someone else. When I go to work, I feel as though I am right at home. How many people can say that?

What is your favourite thing to do on your day off?

I like to experiment with makeup and hair. I love to read, write, and play with my cat. My days are simple, I like to think that I am very artistic, and I try to find ways to create. You can sometimes find me at work on my day off because I love my Chatters family.

Do you have a bucket list for your career?

I get to communicate my knowledge with my guests at the store, but I would love to become a beauty influencer. I don’t write a blog yet, but I am planning on it. I post all of my favourite products on Instagram in hopes that my friends like my stuff.

What does creativity mean to you?

It means it comes out in whatever I do with my hair and make-up style. I will never see black hair on myself again even though it’s my natural colour; being different this way is how I look at myself as being so creative.

What was your best day on the job? Describe it?

When I come in with my hair done better than it has ever been done and makeup applied to the nines. I feel if the rest of me is put together in that way that my words and my knowledge will be regarded by the guests. Feel good, look good, do good!

What is your favourite style trend?

Platinum blonde in an asymmetrical bob… that’s my hair right now, but I like to switch it up and style it with extensions too! Basically, I am trying to be Kim Kardashian. I tend to be a different person every day. In fact, sometimes guests have a hard time recognizing me.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Girl… don’t touch your hair! What is wrong you? Let other people do your hair because you will have the worst orange hair high school phase and wish you could go back!

“I want to send a shout out to my manager Aran… she is the best!”
