What is your role at the salon and how long have you been there?
I’m an esthetician and I’ve been at the Mount Pearl location for about 3 years.
How did you learn about Chatters?
A friend of mine was working at the front desk at the time and she recommended it to me.
What is one of the most favorite things you get to do in your job?
I love making people feel good about themselves. I’m just learning lash extensions right now and it’s my favorite at the moment. I like nails too.
How is working at Chatters different from your last job?
It’s a fun environment to go into every day. It doesn’t feel like work it actually feels like family. We all mesh together so well. We often even hang out outside of work.
What are some of your favorite products?
I’m a huge fan of the Moroccanoil curl crème and I love all of Dermalogica products. I also hate cold winters and I can’t get enough of the St. Tropez tanners.
What do you like to do on a day off?
I usually babysit my nephew and just spend time with friends.
Tell us about something on your bucket list.
Sky diving it at the top of my bucket list. I have several friends who have done it but one of these days I will actually get to it.
What have you learned from working at Chatters Salon?
I learned to work more as a team. We’re not really selling ourselves as individuals. You do have your team behind you, always. Here we’ve always been given opportuites to grow through education which is amazing. I’ve also attended tons of nail clases and they’ve all been free for me to attend.
Is there a nail trend you’re crazy about right now?
I love the French ombre. It’s simple. Get the base color down, add some clear pink and take a sponge and sponge on the white until you get the look you want.
If you could have any job in the world what would you be doing?
I always see myself as a people person so I have to do something with people. I can’t be behind a desk. Nursing was something on my list, helping people. I’m really liking where I’m at right now!
What’s your personal philosophy?
Everything happens for a reason whether you know it or not.
What simple advice would you give to another beauty pro about developing the best customer service skills?
Just be the nicest person you can be. Smile as much at possible.
What’s your favorite hair era?
Totally would be the 80’s. I have big curly hair myself and I get a lot of inspiration from that hair “era” The bigger the hair the better!
What’s a fun fact about yourself?
Before I was in esthetics I always played with hair, makeup and nails. My mom and sister told me to pursue a beauty career, and look at me now!
If you could give advice to your younger self what would you tell her?
Don’t sweat the small stuff or stress about things you cannot change. I recently learned that. Life is a lot easier when you let go of the things you cannot control.
