Beauty Pros

Emily Charlton- Westbank, BC

What is your role at the salon?
I’m an Redken Certified Elite stylist and service manager. I’ve been at this location 5 years and another Chatters prior to this for 2 years.

What’s the best part about your job:
There are two things: the first one is being a stylist and being able to see the change, doing makeovers and having a lot of fun. When the client is ecstatic it’s so awesome to be a stylist. The second part is being a service manager and being able to watch my team members come out of hair school and see them grow and being a part of

What do you like to do on a day off?
I love to watch Netflix and do crafts.

If you could travel anywhere where would you go?
I’ve always wanted to go to Paris because I felt it would be a dreamy place.

Is there something on your bucket list?
Not really.  I like to live in the moment see what happens

What’s one of your favorite products?
Redken blowdry spray pillowproof primer.

What are you passionate about in your career:
I love learning new things, colors, cuts, products – all of it. My favorite is styling so I really love learning about new tricks and techniques for updos.

If you could give your younger self some advice what would you tell her?
Don’t be so serious about life so young. I felt like I was in a hurry to grow up and be independent.

Why should someone come to you to get their hair done?
They should come to see me because they will have fun and they will leave with something new and something that suits them.

How did mentorship become important to you?
It really came from the job. I was never was a group leader in school but I feel like I just love that part of it…I love the teaching..being a one on one situation of goal setting. I love seeing the reaction I get from them when they meet their goal or get to that next level. It’s so awesome helping to build a career. I never expected to even want to do something like this but I pushed back some of my own boundaries and found out that the leadership part of it was something I could learn and become good at. I wanted to be ready and wanted to be given the opportunity, so I’m grateful to Chatters for that.
